چکیده

Following recent calls to examine the replicability of behavioral research, I examined two key determinants replicability, namely sample sizes and statistical power, in research using Implicit Relational Assessment Procedure (IRAP). A systematic review was used gather all published studies employing IRAP extract their designs sizes. The use Null Hypothesis Significance Testing found be nearly ubiquitous, justifying examination power. Using an established method, median were estimate power detect average effect size psychological (r = .20) each year. Sample they imply very low (in 2022: N 64, 0.34). At current rate growth, study will only reach recommended minimum at least 0.80 by 2080. literature directly compared with Social Personality psychology existing dataset. Median implied lower years than beginning Replication Crisis 2011, indeed subsequent years. Improvements significantly substantially larger literature. Direct tests reproducibility claims are needed.

Statistical significance and statistical power in hypothesis testing.

Experimental design requires estimation of the sample size required to produce a meaningful conclusion. Often, experimental results are performed with sample sizes which are inappropriate to adequately support the conclusions made. In this paper, two factors which are involved in sample size estimation are detailed--namely type I (alpha) and type II (beta) error. Type I error can be considered ...

A Critical Assessment of Null Hypothesis Significance Testing in Quantitative Communication Research

Null hypothesis significance testing (NHST) is the most widely accepted and frequently used approach to statistical inference in quantitative communication research. NHST, however, is highly controversial, and several serious problems with the approach have been identified. This paper reviews NHST and the controversy surrounding it. Commonly recognized problems include a sensitivity to sample s...

Null hypothesis significance testing: a short tutorial

Although thoroughly criticized, null hypothesis significance testing (NHST) remains the statistical method of choice used to provide evidence for an effect, in biological, biomedical and social sciences. In this short tutorial, I first summarize the concepts behind the method, distinguishing test of significance (Fisher) and test of acceptance (Newman-Pearson) and point to common interpretation...

assessment of the efficiency of s.p.g.c refineries using network dea

data envelopment analysis (dea) is a powerful tool for measuring relative efficiency of organizational units referred to as decision making units (dmus). in most cases dmus have network structures with internal linking activities. traditional dea models, however, consider dmus as black boxes with no regard to their linking activities and therefore do not provide decision makers with the reasons...

Persistent Misconceptions concerning Null Hypothesis Significance Testing

ABTRACT The Null Hypothesis Significance Test is a popular testing procedure used mainly in the social sciences and occasionally in the natural sciences. The procedure has been criticized on several grounds. Firstly, opponents have attacked the procedure itself, claiming that it either does not tell the researcher what he or she wants to know; and/or that the procedure is not logically valid. S...
